About the Position:

As a Tax Manager for XY Tax Solutions (XYTS), an XY Planning Network (XYPN) service line that brings expert tax preparation and planning services to XYPN members, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your talent for and experience in tax services as you work directly with financial advisors and their clients. XYTS offers a suite of services that includes tax preparation, planning, research, and compliance, all of which you’ll help deliver. In your role, you will largely focus on the preparation of individual, corporate, partnership, and other entity returns. What You’ll Do:

    • Compile all tax documents and prepare complete and accurate federal and state tax returns for review by XYTS’ Senior Tax Manager
    • Prepare accurate tax projections and calculate estimated taxes
    • Identify tax planning opportunities and provide tax planning guidance to clients
    • Perform technical research on tax-related issues that arise
    • Assist clients with IRS and State tax notices and provide audit support
    • Assist with other tax-related projects
    • Communicate effectively with clients in a way that is timely, professional, and on-brand
    • Work with XYTS’ Operations Specialist to ensure our CRM is up to date and billing is accurate
    • Meet with XYTS’ Senior Tax Manager weekly to ensure metrics are met (or better yet, exceeded!)
    • Manage the workload of XYTS’ Tax Specialist to meet deadlines

    Start Date: Immediately

    Status: Full-time (40-45 hours per week with flexible schedule)

    Location: Bozeman, MT

    • Ability to work virtually until Coronavirus restrictions are lifted and we reopen our office
    • Relocation timeline is reasonably flexible due to Coronavirus, if applicable

    Reports To: Senior Tax Manager

    Direct reports: Tax Specialist and Tax Interns

    Compensation & Benefits:

    • Salary: $75,703
    • Unlimited vacation days to maintain work-life harmony (we require that you take a minimum of 3 weeks of vacation per year)

      Requirements

      What You’ll Bring to the Table:

      Must-Haves

      • Authorized to live and work in the United States
      • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field
      • CPA or Enrolled Agent required
      • 3+ years of experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns
      • Tax preparation experience with Ultratax and other Thomson Reuters programs preferred
      • Proficiency in QuickBooks preferred
      • A penchant for distilling complex messages by highlighting and summarizing key points
      • The ability to successfully work both collaboratively with teams and independently
      • Multitasking might be your middle name—you’re a master of ensuring nothing falls through the cracks
      • A talent for learning new software and tools to create task efficiencies and automate reports (we’re big fans of automation at XYTS)
      • A team player attitude—you’re the kind of person who collaborates, communicates, and documents so we all win together
      • An unwillingness to deliver anything but high-quality, accurate, and error-free work
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

      What Would Make Us Drool
