About the Position:

As a Senior Tax Manager for XY Tax Solutions (XYTS), you will work closely with the Director of XYTS to execute on the vision of this rapidly growing XYPN service line. You will act primarily as a relationship manager for XYPN advisors, and will be responsible for managing the tax return preparation of individual, corporate, partnership, and other entity returns with minimal supervision; you will also be responsible for resolving tax issues. In addition, you will lead, manage, and hold a team accountable for achieving accurate and timely results. In your role, you will be responsible for hiring and training tax managers and tax specialists, and ultimately helping us scale this high-growth service line.

What You’ll Do:

  • Prepare and review tax returns, including complex filings, work papers, estimated tax payments, and other various tax compliance filing requirements
  • Perform technical research to address complex tax issues with the support of your team
  • Provide tax compliance and advisory services to partnerships, corporations, and individuals to be billed at an hourly rate
  • Develop comprehensive goals for performance, create and implement growth strategies, and achieve or exceed established objectives
  • Support the strategic vision set by the director of this growing service line
  • Manage a team of tax professionals and assistants working on client projects and attract, retain, and develop a team of high-performers
  • Communicate effectively with advisors and their clients in a timely and professional manner
  • Effectively solve problems and resolve issues that arise among the service line
  • Work with the operations specialist to ensure appropriate records are maintained
  • Manage the workload of tax managers and tax specialists to ensure deadlines are met
  • Proactively and professionally engage with XYTS clients

The Deets:

Start Date: Immediately

Status: Full-time (40-45 hours per week with flexible schedule)

Location: Bozeman, MT

  • Ability to work virtually until Coronavirus restrictions are lifted and we reopen our office
  • Relocation timeline is reasonably flexible due to Coronavirus, if applicable

Reports To: Director of XY Tax Solutions

Direct reports: Tax Managers and Tax Specialists

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $115,835
  • Unlimited vacation days to maintain work-life harmony (we require that you take a minimum of 3 weeks of vacation per year)

    What You’ll Bring to the Table:


    • Authorized to live and work in the United States
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, taxation, or a related field
    • CPA or Enrolled Agent required
    • 7+ years of experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns
    • Tax preparation experience with Ultratax and other Thomson Reuters programs
    • Proficiency in QuickBooks
    • A talent for simplifying complex tax law by highlighting and summarizing key points
    • The ability to work collaboratively with teams and independently
    • The ability to monitor deadlines and simultaneously balance many projects
    • A propensity for learning new software and tools to create task efficiencies and automate reports
    • The ability to complete quality work with a high degree of accuracy
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
