About the Position:

As a Childcare Specialist at XY Learning Center, you will lend a cheerful and energetic hand to support the Lead Childcare Specialist in the operation of our childcare center in the heart of downtown Bozeman. You will carry out scheduled daily activities, extend compassion and care to children and their families, and ensure each child’s safety and well-being—both physical and emotional. In this role, you’ll help us maintain a warm, gentle, and nurturing learning environment for children, all while contributing to our goals of encouraging play, exploration, communication, and individualized child centered development.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Provide conscientious care for children, monitoring at all times to stay aware of their physical and emotional needs
  • Keep logs for parents to show daily activities of their children
    • Use the Himama app to record child activities
    • Support Lead CCS with uploading individual child’s milestones in HiMama app
  • Assist children with personal tasks, including but not limited to meals, diaper changes, and nap time routines
  • Maintain a regular schedule of meal, play, and nap times
    • Support Lead CCS in implementing the daily routine and transitions throughout the day
  • Engage children in fun, educational activities, including time outdoors
    • Support the Lead CCS with planned activities.
    • Support children as needed during activities
  • Be knowledgeable on developmentally appropriate practices to meet children where they are while continually helping each child develop at his/her own pace
    • Support the Lead CCS with documenting individual children’s development
    • Become familiar with and be able to use the HiMama milestone tracker
    • Be familiar with the Montana Early Learning Standards
  • Keep open, proactive communication with parents on each child’s needs and challenges
    • Use best practices as stated in XYLC team member handbook
  • Build a partnership with each family centered around your relationship with their child
    • Assist the Lead CCS to meet families where they are
    • Use best practices as stated in the XYLC team member handbook
  • Document all appropriate information and hold records confidentially
    • Accident reports
    • Well child checks (daily)
  • Create and support a safe, functional child care environment
    • Be knowledgeable on Montana State Child Care Licensing Rules and Regulations
  • Execute a cleaning routine that keeps all areas sanitary and safe
    • Support classroom routines that have been established by the Lead CCS
  • Collaborate with other staff and the Director to support the overall learning centers’ goals to provide quality child care.
    • Seek support when needed
    • Attend L-10s, weekly meetings and XYLC retreats
    • Develop and implement a professional development plan that is reviewed once a quarter

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $43,500/ year

    What You’ll Bring to the Table:

    • Legally authorized to live and work in US
    • High school diploma or GED
    • 2+ years of child care experience
    • Strong communication skills and passion for child development
    • Proper vaccinations, per state regulations (MMR if born in 1957 or later and TDAP)
    • Infant, child, and adult CPR, First Aid, and Infant Safety Essentials certifications (or obtain within 30 days of hire)
    • Comfortable with caring for and connecting with children of all ages and abilities, including infants
    • Desire and ability to engage in physical and educational play activities with children
    • Ability to physically meet the demands of children on the go, including but not limited to; bend, stoop, kneel, stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds
    • Ability to pass federal and state criminal, sex offender and domestic watch list background checks
    • Comfort with technology and learning new tools
    • Willing to complete 16 hours of required training annually
    • The ability to multitask and a love of organization
    • Experience and ease leading and collaborating with coworkers

    What Would Make Us Drool

    • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Childhood Development or equivalent to including Family/Children Services and Support
    • Level 4 or higher on the Montana Practitioner Registry
    • Has 2+ years of experience working with infants and toddlers in a group setting
