About the Position:

Here at XY Planning Network (XYPN), we’re on a mission to help people live their great lives. We bring that mission to life through the stories we tell. Storytelling is at the heart of the XYPN brand and as XYPN’s Associate Editor, it will be at the heart of your job too. You will work collaboratively and creatively alongside a talented team of marketers to curate concise, compelling, and accurate content for XYPN, ensuring each piece of our content strategy falls into place. To truly excel in this role, you need not only the ability to write well but also the talent to edit and elevate the work of others so that every message is meaningful and no word is wasted. Together with XYPN’s Marketing Team, you will communicate XYPN’s value proposition to the world, driving the XYPN movement forward.

What You’ll Do:

  • Copyedit, publish, and distribute content from several talented contributors on our team; create visuals from templates to accompany blogs, podcasts, and other materials
  • Create clear and persuasive content that converts for several channels in our marketing funnel, such as landing pages, blogs, email campaigns, and social media posts
  • Review and revise content for accuracy and quality, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax
  • Fact-check copy to ensure that all dates, names, statistics, and facts are correct
  • Ensure correct tone, voice, clarity, flow, and structure of content
  • Write blurbs, ledes, headlines, taglines...all the lines, really—if there’s something to write at XYPN, you’re on it
  • Collaborate with the rest of XYPN’s Marketing Team to come up with fresh and creative ideas that elevate our brand, always keeping audience top of mind
  • Produce email marketing copy using promotional (but not salesy!) language designed to motivate
  • Manage technical aspects of content delivery systems such as HubSpot and WordPress
  • Carefully follow multi-step processes with consistency and diligence to complete regularly scheduled tasks; develop processes as needed
  • Maintain quality data and organized files and resources for use by the team
  • Understand and report on KPIs that speak to the effectiveness of our content

  • Start Date: Immediately
  • Status: Full-time (40 - 45 hours/week w/flexible schedule)
  • Location: Bozeman, MT (ability to work virtually until coronavirus restrictions are lifted and we reopen our office)
  • Department: Marketing
  • Reports to: Kelly Moorman, Director of Brand Communications

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $51,616

    What You’ll Bring to the Table:

    • Authorized to live and work in the United States
    • A robust portfolio of applicable written work
    • Mastery of spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors and the ability to make constructive suggestions and give critical feedback to contributors at all levels in the company
    • A talent for inspiring others through the written word
    • An understanding of content marketing processes, objectives, and KPIs
    • Knowledge of SEO
    • The ability to manage multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines
    • An understanding of and the ability to quickly adopt brand voice and tone
    • An eye for aesthetics and basic competency in graphic design (we use Canva)
    • Experience with the following social platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube
    • Comfort using technology and learning new tools
    • Willingness to collaborate with a creative team of marketers
    • Proficiency with G Suite and Microsoft Office

    What would make us drool:

    • 2+ years of content writing and/or inbound marketing experience
    • Experience with Google Analytics and WordPress
    • Proficiency with HubSpot and integrating the system with other technologies
    • Proven track record of growth through content marketing (leads, customers, followers, etc) in a previous role
    • College degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or other related field
    • Background in personal finance
    • A deep respect for the Oxford comma
