  • Hours: Full-time (Regular - Exempt). The position is expected to work 40 hours per week, but schedule is flexible.
  • Location: Bozeman, MT preferred / remote-based considered for the right candidate

Job Description: 

XYPN is looking for an experienced Compliance Consultant that is is familiar with RIA compliance, including state, SEC, and FINRA regulatory statutes, policies and procedures and industry best practices. This Compliance Consultant will need to be familiar with state audit practices and interpretations, and have some experience with ongoing compliance task management using a system of recurring tasks. In addition, the ideal candidate will be an effective communicator and will exhibit the ability to quickly interpret guidance provided by advisers, and create action items based on conversations with a firm’s Chief Compliance Officers. The Compliance Consultant will provide support on projects currently executed by XYPN Compliance team, and will be responsible for delivering ongoing services under our premium service offerings. In addition, the Compliance Consultant will provide audit support for virtual and onsite mock examinations, as needed. The Compliance Consultant will be responsible for answering firm compliance questions via email and through weekly compliance office hours sessions.


The ideal candidate possesses sufficient compliance knowledge to assist with high-level RIA firm compliance questions, is comfortable being on the phone often, and will be proficient with organizational call scheduling/call tracking. The Compliance Consultant must communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms, be a meticulous note-taker, and possess the ability to follow processes, while suggesting changes to existing processes when inefficiencies are identified.

In summary, the Compliance Consultant is a technician focused role within XYPN’s Compliance Team, designed to provide ongoing compliance service and support directly to our members and their firms. You will be communicating with our members regularly to provide exceptional ongoing compliance support through email, a compliance forum, group office hours calls, and direct one on one phone calls. You will work alongside a growing, rockstar compliance team and will report to our Director of Compliance, Travis Johnson.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute Premium Compliance Services, Including ADV Updates, Additional State Registrations, Adding and Terminating Investment Adviser Representatives, U4 filings, and updating Compliance Documents
  • Maintain a system of recurring calls with adequate scheduling and tracking to ensure that ongoing services are being fulfilled
  • Host Weekly Office Hours calls with our members around RIA state registration and the XYPN Initial Registration Process
  • Host Weekly Office hours calls with our existing firms
  • Maintain presence in our member forums to answer compliance related questions.
  • Conduct research and write blogs on relevant compliance topics
  • Design expanded compliance service offering and provide to compliance team for testing and implementation
  • Provide support and documentation gathering for virtual and onsite mock audits

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Providing project and task management support for XY Planning Network’s compliance department
  • Addressing high-level regulatory questions for other XYPN Team members
  • Participate in Annual XYPN Team Retreats & Attend All-Hands meetings and Town Halls
  • Support Compliance Associates with executing RIA Initial State Registrations and processing ADV Updates (when volume dictates)
  • Attend and represent XYPN at our National Conferences
  • Assist with the creation of compliance resources including templates, how-to guides, and Q&As for members launching and growing their firms

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 3-5 years working in an RIA compliance role

What would make us drool:

  • Experience overseeing IAR’s in an RIA in some capacity

  • Has been a Compliance Officer for an RIA or taken on similar responsibilities

  • Has previous experience communicating with multiple state securities regulators

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $67,472 - $74,219, depending on level of accountability that one is able to take on from the start

  • 401K (4.5% match on 6% contribution)
